What to see…?

Diane,
A woman in my online group was being very negative about her husband and the
group leader told her to try to think of some positives, even if it were
difficult. This is what she came up with. I thought it was touching. I
just wanted you to see it.

He was very helpful in the kitchen. He usually got home from work around 3 PM, and he usually made dinner for the family. I don't get home until around 5 PM.

He did all the yard work, took care of all car maintenance, always
called me if he was going to be late, instilled complete trust, did the
lion's share of bill paying because I hate to write due to carpal tunnel
syndrome, balanced the checkbook, fixed the toilet when it would break (regularly), painted the outside of the house.

He usually remembered to put the toilet seat and lid down. He vacuumed occasionally. He spent lots of time with the kids. He bought advent calendars with chocolate behind each day for the kids every Christmas season. He laughed and joked a lot, and didn't like to be serious.

He told me when I looked good. He learned to enjoy horses because our girls and I loved to ride.

He was willing to try new dishes I prepared. He loved my lasagna. He went to church with the family every Sunday, even though he had trouble staying awake during preaching.

Although he doesn't like classical music, he went to almost every concert our daughters played in when they were in youth
symphony (4 years for one and 6 years for the other).

He held my hand through 3 labors and deliveries, and whispered in my ear to encourage me. He lovingly dressed an open wound for me after surgery for a breast abscess after the birth of our 3rd.

Four years later, he stood beside my bed as I was being wheeled to surgery to remove a breast due to cancer, and tears filled his eyes as they did mine. That was in 1989.

He walked the floor for hours at night with a sleepless, cranky child. He spooned cereal and baby food into little mouths, and endured spit-up and baby poop on his clothing. He helped me take care of my mother as she was dying of cancer.

Is this what you mean, JJ? It was difficult to get started, but look what I accomplished! I also have a huge lump in my throat and tears in my eyes right now. He was a fantastic husband! My sister told me he "adored" me, and I guess that's correct for a lot of the 26 years we have been married.

Sterling Service Dogs

A butcher watching over his shop is really surprised when he sees a dog coming inside the shop. He shoos him away. But later, the dog is back again. So, he goes over to the dog and notices it has a note in its mouth. He takes the note and it reads, "Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please." The dog has money in its mouth, as well. The butcher looks inside and, low and behold, there is a $10 note there. So he takes the money and puts the sausages and lamb in a bag, placing it in the dog's mouth. The butcher is so impressed, and since it's about closing time, he decides to shut the shop and follow the dog. So off he goes.
The dog is walking down the street, when it comes to a level crossing the dog puts down the bag, jumps up and presses the button. Then it waits patiently, bag in mouth, for the lights to turn. They do, and it walks across the road, with the butcher following him all the way.
The dog then comes to a bus stop, and starts looking at the timetable. The butcher is in awe as the dog stops a bus by pulling its left leg up and gets in it. The butcher follows the dog into the bus.The dog then shows a ticket, which is tied to its belt to the bus conductor. The butcher is nearly fainting at this sight, so are the other passengers in the bus.
The dog then sits near the driver's seat looking outside waiting for the bus stop to come. As soon as the stop is in sight, the dog stands and wags its tail to inform the conductor. Then, without waiting for the bus to stop completely, it jumps out of the bus and runs to a house very close to the stop. It opens the big iron gate and rushes inside towards the door.As it approaches the wooden door, the dog suddenly changes its mind and heads towards the garden. It goes to the window, and beats its head against it several times, walks back, jumps off, and waits at the door. The butcher watches as a big guy opens the door, and starts abusing the dog, kicking him and punching him, and swearing at him.
The butcher surprised with this, runs up, and stops the guy. "What in heaven's name are you doing? The dog is a genius. He could be on TV, for the life of me!" to which the guy responds: "You call this clever? This is the second time this week that this stupid dog's forgotten his key."
Moral of the story...
You may continue to exceed onlookers' expectations but shall always fall short of the bosses' expectations.

Not Packed as we Expect!

Once there was a young man who was ready for his graduation. He was so attracted with a beautiful sports car. His father was rich and he knew that his father could very well afford him the car. So he spoke of his desire to his father and also gave him the dealer details where the car was available.
The young guy was very much expecting his father to present him the car of his desire.

On the graduation day father called his son into his private study. He told him how proud he was to have him as his son and handed over a wonderfully wrapped nice gift box. He told him "I love You My son".
The young man was curious and opened to see if it contained the keys of the car, rather he found a lovely leather-bound BIBLE. Since his expectations were broken he raised his voice against his father and shouted at him stating that he was mean to present just a BIBLE and left the house. The young man started living alone and some how managed to have a successful life. As the days passed he had his own family and a beautiful home, it was then he started thinking of his father who was growing old. He made a point to himself that he should meet his father, and apologize to him. It was then he received a message stating that his father had passed away. He rushed to his house to see his father lying dead. His father had willed all his possessions to this young man. On knowing this the young man felt really guilty. The young man came across the BIBLE that his father had given him on the graduation day. It was just as he had left it years ago. He opened the Bible and began to turn the pages.

He was going through the verse, a car key dropped from an envelope taped behind the BIBLE. It had a tag with the dealer's name mentioned by this young man. The tag carried his date of graduation and the words ---- PAID IN FULL.

Moral:
How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected?
